I think their marketing tone is a wee bit off, but the prospect of 10,000 identified gamebook readers - let alone gb Kickstarter backers - is massively exciting. I hope that does have some effect, as I hope that future gamebook projects manage to tap a larger portion of that audience, for all our sales.martinnoutchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14481912942125329652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4893219535037824253.post-8858665414572504182021-02-06T22:55:38.232+00:002021-02-06T22:55:38.232+00:00Yes, even before the Kickstarter campaign began, I...Yes, even before the Kickstarter campaign began, I spotted that spurious claim about it being the largest gamebook ever. I'm sure there are several gamebooks that have more sections and several that have more words. I really doubt it will be physically the largest either. But, I don't think it made much difference to the success of the campaign. It was all about 1) ITB having an existing customer base of several thousand people and 2) running a very good marketing campaign. Also, it being packaged with a few add-ons (map and stickers) would have appealed to boardgamers. H.L. Truslove is a first-time author - I've seen a couple of interviews with them. ITB has a fairly good track record in successful Kickstarter campaigns. It has a poor record for delivering products to backers. Crypt X should have been sent to backers last July, but has not even been manufactured yet. NewSpeak was almost a year late. Alba may well be a good product, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if backers receive their copies only half a year late.Scott Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12795927022315090123noreply@blogger.com
