Are you ready for Night of the Necromancer?

Death is not the end...

YOU are a knightly warrior, returning to your ancestral castle home having been away for a number of years fighting a crusade against the forces of darkness in the Mauristatian principality of Bathoria. You are just within sight of home when you are struck down by a band of murderers.

Driven by the need to know why you have been killed, and on whose orders, you rise again as a ghost. This is where your adventure begins, as you set out to solve the mystery of your own murder. All that follows occurs during the course of one night...

  1. Wow!!! I really like it! I hope we'll see the book in bookshops as soon as possible! ;)

  2. To be honest, April 1 2010 (when it's due to come out), probably is as soon as its possible to get NOTN into the shops - seeing as I starting writing it in earnest yesterday!

  3. And I already have questions. Like whether we'll get any more information on the mysterious Bathoria, or if it's purely a background detail...

  4. Background detail at the moment, but I might try to put in a little more now that everyone's showing so much interest.

I do have a masterplan for Bathoria, but it's too early to say whether it will ever come to fruition. But never say never...

  5. April 1 2010? It seems a reasonable time... I hope you'll end it soon, expecially now you're a full-time writer!
I'm courious about Balthoria, too, but also about the use you're going to do of standard character features... will you maintain the STAMINA points or is there the possibility of something different, seeing that the main character, if I correctly understood, is a deadman?

  6. Isn't this blogging lark great? Never before have I been able to converse with readers so freely whilst writing a book.

Readers comments on past books influenced the writing of both Howl of the Werewolf and Stormslayer to steadily increasing degrees, but now you actually have the opportunity to influence (albeit only very slightly) the content of Night of the Necromancer! How cool is that?

Standard features (such as SKILL and STAMINA remain) but are handled in a slightly different way and there's one new attribute score in there too.

Oh, and in terms of deadlines... I need to have finished the text by November, the artist the pictures by December, all to make an April release date - and I'm writing another book at the same time as this one. Not sounding quite so doable now, is it? But it will get done. Haven't been to bed before midnight for a week, but it will get done!

  7. Good luck and look forward to seeing it in print!

  8. I'm not even ready for Day of the Dragon, much less Night of the Necromancer. But give me a call in three or four decades and I'll hang witcha.
