Gamebook Friday: The Burns Night Before Christmas

'TWAS - The Krampus Night Before Christmas has less than one week left to run on Kickstarter and is currently 105% funded. If you've been considering pledging your support, but haven't yet, you have until 1:00pm on Thursday 31st January.

Of course, tonight is also Burns Night, so it's time for the obligatory plug for my non-fiction book Scottish Miscellany: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Scotland the Brave.

Today I find myself wondering if there's enough material in Robert Burns' poems to create an ACE Gamebook inspired by them. I mean, if Gordon Rennie and Emma Beeby can write a graphic novel based on the source material, why not?

Thought for the Day

"Comic writers don't eat SCONES! We live on a diet of booze, ego and self-loathing!"

Thought for the Day

"It's taken me 20 years to learn this (although others may say it's still a lesson-in-progress) but, when you're writing something that's bad, don't be afraid to scrap it and start again. Just because you've spent valuable time typing out a bunch of crap doesn't mean the crap itself has any value."

Leonatos Reborn!

Captain Leonatos of the Blood Angels Chapter made his first appearance in Warhammer Monthly back in 1998. He went on to 'star' in three graphic novels, all written by Gordon Rennie and illustrated by Colin MacNeil.

Fourteen years later, Leonatos and his brothers are back in a brand new audio drama from scribe Rennie:

Travelling the Eye of Terror in search of a stolen artefact, a band of Blood Angels exiles encounter another group of Space Marines on a similar quest – but is all as it seems?

JG in Hammer & Bolter Issue 9

I'm very pleased to be able to announce that my brand new Warhammer short story Sir Dagobert's Last Battle has been scheduled to appear in Hammer & Bolter Issue #9. And I'm in very good company too, for not only are there stories by m'colleagues Sarah Cawkwell and Steve Parker in this issue, there's also a brand new short from ex-Warmaster of All Things 40K Andy Chambers.

You can pre-order your copy of Hammer & Bolter #9 here.

And while we're on the subject of the Black Library, if you've not read Gordon Rennie's Zavant before you owe it to yourself to order the new PoD version that's out this month - along with a totally awesome new cover.

Here's the link to the PoD edition of Zavant.
