Nine Worlds Geekfest 2013
With one event down, it's time to tell you about the next public appearance I have coming up.
I shall be one of the guest authors/part of the Steampunk posse taking part in the Nine Worlds Geekfest 2013 in London this summer. (There's a handy countdown clock at the top of the right hand sidebar.)
From the official press release:
As well as including the core elements of traditional science fiction conventions like literature and film, Nine Worlds seeks to broaden the scope of geekery to include many aspects of popular science and technology, while dispensing with the whole celeb photo and signing machine that turns many sci-fi events into all-day queuing marathons. As co-organiser Ludi Valentine explains, “Our guests are the writers, and creators, and scientists, the people who make awesome things happen, people with amazing stories to tell, and cool stuff to show you.”

Ben Crystal and Shakespeare on Toast
Ben Crystal is an actor and a writer with a thing for Shakespeare. Now I know that probably doesn't narrow it down very much, but he's also the author of Shakespeare on Toast, which is published by Icon Books. His reason for writing it? In his own words: "I wrote Shakespeare on Toast because I became aware of too many people who think Shakespeare is dull, or boring, or inaccessible, and who don’t want to read books that ‘bluff’ your way into the plays. Toast doesn’t do that. It makes Shakespeare's writing accessible, without dumbing it all down."
You can find out more about the book and Ben himself at the book's website. You can also hear (and see) Ben talk about Shakespeare on Toast at Meet the Author. And currently over at The Book Depository you can find out what he rates as his top ten books.
So why not take a look and find out more for yourself?

Match Wits with the Kids video
Here, at long last, is the video clip I recorded with Meet the Author to accompany the release of Match Wits with the Kids.
Feelings of smug self-satisfaction to anyone who spots the 'deliberate' mistake ;-)

Match Wits in the Sunday Express
It was a busy day yesterday. Not only did I spend the morning recording a video about Match Wits with the Kids for a company called Meet the Author, I was also interviewed by the Sunday Express, and had a my photograph taken in preparation for a feature on Match Wits, which is due to run on Sunday 1 June 2008.
So, if you'd like to find out more about the book just before it's published, then pick up a copy of the Sunday Express in 10 days' time.
