ACE Gamebooks news from Sweden and Poland

First up today, I am thrilled to announce that Swedish company Sound Realms (who are currently crowdfunding The Fortress of Death on Kickstarter) and ACE Gamebooks are collaborating to bring you Dracula: Curse of the Vampire the audio adventure!

Sound Realms are very proud and excited to announce a collaboration with ACE Gamebooks and author Jonathan Green to create an audio adventure version of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire (2021) for the Sound Realms platform.
Oscar Carlquist: "We are very pleased to present the next upcoming addition to Sound Realms and I can't wait to start creating some truly haunting and immersive soundscapes for Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. The interactive gamebook version of Bram Stoker's classic is masterfully written by Jon Green and taking this into the audio realm will be as much of an honour as a challenge that we here at Sound Realms are ready to embrace with enthusiasm and dedication!"
Jonathan Green: "I am thrilled that Sound Realms are turning Dracula: Curse of the Vampire into the first audio ACE Gamebook and can't wait to hear how they bring the horror to life through the use of soundscapes and top-notch voice talent. It's going to be bloodcurdlingly brilliant!"

Secondly, NEVERLAND - Here Be Monsters! is now available in Poland, from Muduko.

Thirsty for adventure? We invite you to Neverland, where as shipwreck survivor Wendy Darling, the mechanical avenger Peter Pan, the fearless hunter Tiger Lily or the ruthless pirate Captain Hook, you will discover many of the island's secrets and face nightmarish monsters!

In this gamebook, you make choices for your characters, discovering dark paths leading to many different endings. NEVERLAND - Here Be Monsters! is another part of the paragraph series of books by Jonathan Green, which is inspired by the classics of children's literature.

Also available, but only from the publisher's own webstore, is a special edition of the book that comes with dice, a bookmark, a pencil and a game bag.

Gamebook Friday: Dracula in Deutschland

It's been a long time coming, thanks to issues affecting the worldwide publishing community in 2022, but I'm delighted to report that Dracula: Interaktiver Horror-Roman is now available in hardback from Mantikore-Verlag.

"THE BLOOD IS LIFE" 1897. The neurologist Dr. Seward is intrigued by his new patient, former attorney Mr. Renfield. He recently returned from a trip to Transylvania and has been suffering from delusions ever since. Renfield's replacement, Jonathan Harker, is sent to complete the job. His journey takes him to a remote region infested with wolves and to an isolated castle inhabited by the mysterious Count Dracula. What Jonathan experiences there drives him to the brink of madness... In this gothic horror gamebook you slip into the role of a vampire hunter or the role of Count Dracula himself. Embark on a journey through dark Transylvania or roam through London at night. Arm yourself with holy water, cross and garlic and fight against demons, werewolves and vampires. But beware, for the dead travel fast... An interactive vampire novel penned by Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland author Jonathan Green.

This is the second foreign language edition of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. The German edition was supposed to have come out in time for Halloween last year but was delayed, which allowed the Polish edition from Muduko to pip it to the publication post in November.

In other news, the Czech edition of Beowulf Beastslayer will be coming to retailers in Czechia and elsewhere soon, courtesy of Mytago! Here's the cover.

Gamebook Friday: Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland won an award!

I discovered recently that Koszmar Alicji w Krainie Czarów, the Polish language edition of Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland, won an award in the A Child-Friendly World competition*.

Koszmar Alicji w Krainie Czarów actually won the main award in the "Teenagers in the time of a pandemic" category, which is totally awesome! So a huge thank you to team at Muduko, my Polish publisher, and to everyone who voted.

Dracula: Klątwa wampira

Today is the Day of the Dead, so it seems rather appropriate that Dracula: Klątwa wampira - which is Polish for Dracula: Curse of the Vampire - is out today from Muduko in Poland.

There is evil lurking in the fear-filled Carpathians...

Take the fight to the legendary Count Dracula, or take on the role of the terrifying Prince of Darkness himself. It's up to you whether the story will follow the tracks of Bram Stoker's novel, or whether the whole world will plunge into darkness under the rule of an accursed ruler.

W przepełnionych grozą Karpatach czai się zło, któremu musisz stawić czoło…

Wraz z Łowcami Wampirów podejmij walkę, by powstrzymać legendarnego Hrabiego Draculę albo wciel się w samego przerażającego Księcia Ciemności. To od Ciebie zależy, czy historia potoczy się torami znanymi z powieści Brama Stokera, czy Anglia, a potem cały świat pogrąży się w mroku pod rządami przeklętego władcy.

Cover reveal! A krampusz éjszakája

I am pleased to say that there are various translations of my ACE Gamebooks in the works, including a Polish edition of Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland from Muduko.

But the cover I want to reveal to you today is the one for the Hungarian translation of 'TWAS - The Krampus Night Before Christmas, which is to be published by Chameleon Comix later this year.

A krampusz éjszakája translates as 'Night of the Krampus'*, while the tagline at the top reads 'Brand new gamebook from the author of Demon Knights!'

In the UK, 'Demon Knights' was published as Knights of Doom.

Here's a mock-up of the hardback edition of the new translation...

And here it is as a paperback...

Those of you who know the adventure already, or who have played the 'TWAS RPG, will recognise the cover art by my long-time collaborator Tony Hough.

* Continuing the theme started by other gamebooks of mine including Night of the Necromancer and Night of the Kraken.
