P is for Pax Britannia

But what is Pax Britannia?

Well, if you're asking that question, you're clearly not a regular to this blog, so welcome aboard!

Pax Britannia is the Victorian-inspired steampunk setting I created for Abaddon Books, and which I have written seven novels for (with work already begun on an eighth) featuring the dandy adventurer and agent of the crown Ulysses Quicksilver. Here's a brief synopsis of the series.

In the closing years of the 20th century the British Empire's rule is still going strong. Queen Victoria is about to celebrate her 160th jubilee, kept alive by advanced steam technology. London is a fantastical sprawling metropolis where dirigibles roam the skies, robot Bobbies enforce the law and dinosaurs are on display in London Zoo. Welcome to Magna Britannia, a steam-driven world full of fantastical creations and shady villains. Here dashing dandies and moustachioed villains battle for supremacy while below the city strange things stir in the flooded tunnels of the old London Underground.

Pax Britannia has its own blog, badges, posters, puzzles and desktop wallpapers. It also has its own introductory video, so if you still want to know more, check this out.

Wow. Pax Britannia looks like such a rich, well-built world, a perfect example of the steampunk I've heard so much about but haven't yet checked out. I think I'll have to do that asap.

It's a pleasure to meet you via the A-Z Challenge!
