"The modern master of the gamebook format" (Rob Sanders)... "Can do dark very well" (Jonathan Oliver)... "Green gets mileage out of his monsters" (SFX Magazine)... "It takes a firm editorial hand and a keen understanding of the tone of each piece to make a collection this diverse work, and Green makes it look effortless" (Starburst Magazine)... "A charming blend of camp creatures, humour, and genuine horror" (Set the Tape)
Over the last few months, I have been writing an adventure set on a remote, tropical island. But a few years ago I wrote an entirely different adventure that reaches its climax on a remote, tropical island.
If you've read Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland or The Wicked Wizard of Oz, you'll know the sort of thing to expect, only this time I'm mashing together J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan and Wendy and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World.
If you're a fan of Peter Pan then you'll love this re-imagining of the story, which features all your favourite characters - Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy Darling, Tiger Lily, Captain Hook and Mr Smee. And if you're not a fan of Barrie's original then you'll love this new, darker take on the story, which also features fleshing-eating fish-people, marauding morlocks, and dinosaurs. Lots of dinosaurs.
At 11:40pm on the 14th April, 1912, during her maiden voyage, en route to New York City, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg and in the early hours of 15th April the passenger liner sank. 1,503 people died, including passengers and crew, but 706 people survived, among them Wendy Darling and her dog Nana...
Separated from the rest of her family, Wendy's lifeboat drifts for days until it washes up on the shores of a mysterious island - a place lost in time, home to creatures long thought extinct, a forgotten tribe, and a boy who can never grow up.
But the notorious pirate Captain James Hook and his crew have also found their way to Neverland, and the island is angry...
The first 100 people who back the NEVERLAND - Here Be Monsters! Kickstarter, to receive a physical copy of the book, will receive a free download code for my Gamebook Adventure Temple of the Spider God, courtesy of Tin Man Games, and the first 10 people who back to receive the deluxe hardback will also receive a pair of steampunk goggles!
Not only that, but if you encourage your friends to join the NEVERLAND - Here Be Monsters! Facebook group too, and the total number of members reaches 400, everyone who backs the project to receive a physical copy of the book will also receive a hardback copy of the Explorer's Journal - an artefact encountered in the game!
There are also a limited number of Early Bird rewards that include a pre-release play-test copy of the adventure.
Apparently, 25 million metric tonnes of spiders exist on Earth and between them they consume 400-800 million tonnes of insects every year, which is equivalent to the amount of meat and fish that humans consume over the same period!
This one made me smile and reminded me of a review I read recently of the Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland Colouring Book which claimed it was a story book because it had some words in it (probably less than 1,000 in all, so a pretty undemanding story book).
However, my favourite review is probably this one...
In case you didn't already know, today was International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and, as usual, this has meant a couple of my gamebooks have been given a fresh plug.
First up is Bloodbones (originally written eighteen years old and first published eight years ago!) which is going to be coming to a handheld device near you soon, courtesy of Tin Man Games.
Tin Man Games will also be attending FIGHTING FANTASY FEST 2014, and talking about how they are going about converting classic Fighting Fantasy gamebooks for a new generation in the 21st century.
If you've yet to buy your ticket, you have just 21 days left to do so. So don't delay, buy yours today.
Tin Man Games' next FF release is Steve Jackson's Appointment with FEAR
Tin Man Games have slashed the cost of my Gamebook Adventures app Temple of the Spider God. It's now available for $0.99 or £0.69! How awesomely cheap and mightily tempting is that, eh? (Consider it a Valentine's Day gift from the Tin Man to you.)
And in case the price-crash is not enough of a sweetener for you, then check out these review stats.
"This game is very fun. It has a great story... It has everything I love. If you like strategy, board games, and reading, this game is perfect for you. It's great for passing the time." "Of all the Tin Man gamebooks I have purchased, I enjoyed this one most. The Phobia checks were an added element to the story making it that much more interesting. There were just enough options in this story for it to feel as if you had a good deal of control." "I don't see anyone with arachnophobia playing this game, but it looks great!"
Any black cats crossed your path today? Risked walking under any ladders? Things not quite gone your way? Well, it is Friday the Thirteenth after all.
So if today's not really been your day, why not cheer yourself by playing one of my gamebooks in which Unlucky for some takes on an entirely different, more lethal meaning?

So go here, enter 'GA7' into the search bar, and please nominate the game. The iOS version achieved a 2nd place ranking when it was released a couple of years ago. Wouldn't it be great if it could achieve 1st place this time around?

Today is 29 November, which means that it's Black Friday - the day retailers knock a load of cash off their stuff to encourage you to buy it. Well Tin Man Games have done just that with their Gamebook Adventures, including my own Temple of the Spider God.
Check out this link, and grab it while you can for the Android or iDevice of your choice, at a bargain price!
Good news! If you pledged to receive the SPIDER level reward for YOU ARE THE HERO you should now have received your desktop Gamebook Adventures!
They've been a while coming, but you're going to love how these games look on your desktop, not to mention the fun you'll have playing them. In fact the experience will probably take many of you back about 30 years!
(As is always the way, if any of you have not received Gamebook Adventures 1-7 for your Mac or PC and think you should have done, drop me a line and I'll get it sorted for you. It won't have been Tin Man Games' fault - it will have been a clerical error on my part.)
It just remains for me to say a huge THANK YOU to Neil Rennison and Ben Britten Smith of Tin Man Games who so generously offered this reward in the first place and sent out the codes. And once you've played through GA 1-7 you should really check out their new app versions of a certain gamebook series from the '80s too. ;-)
The critically acclaimed gamebook series returns with gamebook legend, Jonathan Green at the helm! Jonathan Green is best known for his work on the Fighting Fantasy series, but has also been involved with gamebooks and novels based on SW Clone Wars, Doctor Who and Warhammer 40K!
