Steampunk Thursday: Pax Britannia im Deutschland

It's been a few years since my first two Pax Britannia books were published as German language editions, but now they're back, with German titles this time, and brand new cover art. And very impressive they look too!

Unnatural History is now Welt aus den Fugen, while Leviathan Rising has been rechristened Gefahr in der Tiefe.

Bother titles are due to be released on 31 May 2019, courtesy of Luzifer-Verlag.

Don't forget, my steampunk-inspired take on Alice's Adventutres in Wonderland is also available in German, as Alice im Düsterland, and can be purchased here, from Mantikore-Verlag.

Steampunk Thursday: Alice's Nightmare in the Czech Republic and Steampunk International in Finnish

Pictured are two of the most recent foreign editions of my work.

The one on the left is the Czech edition of Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland, and the one on the right is the Finnish edition of Steampunk International which features my new Pax Britannia short story Reckless Engineering.

They join the German translations of my Pax Britannia novels. So what will be next?

Steampunk Thursday: Leviathan Rising auf Deutsch

Today is the official publication date of the German language paperback edition of Leviathan Rising, my second Ulysses Quicksilver Pax Britannia adventure.

The German translation (by Michael Knarr) has been published Luzifer-Verlag, the publishers who previously put out the German edition of Unnatural History. This new edition also features a brand new cover by the very talented Timo Kümmel.

Steampunk Thursday: Luzifer Verlag

Steffen Janssen, publisher of the German editions of my Pax Britannia books Unnatural History and Leviathan Rising, would like some feedback on the books from German language readers. So, if you happen to have read my books in German, why not drop him a line here?

Oh, and Happy New Year.

Short Story Saturday: Das Puppenhaus

The print edition of Diabolos MMXIV arrived from Germany via snail mail the other day, and quite a doorstop of a publication it is too.

The best thing about it is that the title of my own contribution, The Doll's House, translates as Das Puppenhaus.

You can pick up the print edition of Diabolos MMXIV here, and the eBook version here.

Genießen!

Steampunk Thursday: Vampires, Dinosaurs, and Resurrection from the Dead

That's how the latest 5-star review of the German edition of Pax Britannia: Unnatural History begins. It goes on to say "an excellent, well thought-out Steampunk world" and ends with "for Steampunk fans there can hardly be a better novel". Which is nice.

You can pick up the German edition from LUZIFER-Verlag here, and the original English edition from Abaddon Books here. Or you could wait and purchase a signed copy of The Ulysses Quicksilver Omnibus (which contains not only Unnatural History, but also Leviathan Rising and Human Nature) from me at the Sci-Fi Weekender in North Wales at the end of the month.

DIABOLOS MMXIV

This is the poster that those lucky enough to be visiting the Leipzig Book Fair next week will be able to pick up from the Luzifer-Verlag stall - as long as stocks remain, that is.

Designed by Timo Kümmel, the poster is of course promoting the horror anthology DIABOLOS MMXIV, which includes a German translation of my story The Doll's House, and which you can find out more about here.

New Book Wednesday: DIABOLOS MMXIV

The eBook version of Luzifer-Verlag's horror anthology DIABOLOS MMXIV is now available to download from here.

To paraphrase the publisher, "whether subtle or brutal, the stories in the anthology are always horrible, creepy and frightening! This is DIABOLOS, a collection of stories that are not suitable for the faint-hearted."

The anthology features stories by the likes of Simon Clark, Adam Nevill, Christopher Fowler, Mark Hodder, George Mann, and - you've guessed it - Yours Truly!

You can find out more by clicking this link.

In other news, Necropolis my story from Jurassic London's Stories of the Smoke has been sold internationally and will be appearing in translation later this year. Watch this space for more news on that one!

Steampunk Tuesday: Unnatural History launches in Germany

That's right! Volume 1 of the Ulysses Quicksilver chronicles officially launches today in Germany, courtesy of German language publisher Luzifer-Verlag*.

This is the first foreign edition of one of my Pax Britannia books, and the first of all my published titles to be translated into German.**

Despite the fact that it's not supposed to be out yet, the book has already received a number of rave reviews from German-speaking fans.

To order your German edition of Unnatural History, follow this link.

* Who has already expressed an interest in translating Leviathan Rising into German too.

** There was some interest from a French publisher some years back, but he decided the books were just too English for a French market!

Steampunk Thursday: Pax Britannia goes to Germany

Okay, so I know Ulysses Quicksilver has been to Germany before (in Pax Britannia: Anno Frankenstein) but he's never been to Germany quite like this before...

The exciting news (that I've been sitting on for the best part of a year) is that German publisher LUZIFER-Verlag has acquired translation rights for Pax Britannia: Unnatural History, the first of Ulysses Quicksilver's gonzo Steampunk adventures. And here's the, quite frankly awesome, cover of the German edition.

Thanks to Ben Smith of Abaddon Books and Steffen Janssen of LUZIFER-Verlag for making this happen, and let's hope that German readers enjoy Ulysses' adventures as much as readers in the UK and the US have done so far.

Who knows, if sales are strong enough, there may well be more German editions of  Pax Britannia books in the future.
