World Dracula Day 2026

Today is World Dracula Day, since today would have been Bram Stoker's 179th birthday. 2026 also marks five years since my gamebook adaptation of Stoker's seminal novel - Dracula: Curse of the Vampire - was first published.

Out now is the 5th anniversary hardback of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. Where the original hardback had a black cover with red text, this new edition has a red cover with black text. And where the original had red page edges, this new edition has black page edges.

I have also produced a new foil bookmark, which will be give away with copies of the new hardback, which will be on sale at the UK Games Expo next weekend.

Meanwhile, those people who supported the Kickstarter I ran to produce this new edition of the sixth ACE Gamebook, will also receive a pack of artwork postcards, a pair of bespoke black dice, and a pin badge in the form of Dracula's crest.

Gamebook Friday: Dracula Anniversary Hardback

As of writing, the Kickstarter campaign for the 5th Anniversary Hardback of the ACE Gamebook Dracula: Curse of the Vampire, has just 6 days left to run, but is already 56% funded.

There is now a no frills hardback reward available for £50. So, if you've been holding back from backing the Kickstarter, maybe this option is for you.

If you haven't backed the project yet yourself, here's a reminder of what you will be getting:

  • A hardback of the 1,000 section adventure, in which you can play as either Jonathan Harker, Mina Murray, Dr John Seward, or Count Dracula. This will differ from the original hardback in that the cover will be red with black printing on it.
  • Known errata will be corrected in this new edition and backers of the Kickstarter will have their names featured inside.
  • Each book will be individually signed by the author.

Those people who back at the £70 or £120 reward levels will also receive the following rewards:

  • A collectible bookmark, only available with this edition of the book.
  • A pack of 10 postcards featuring Hauke Kock's artwork.
  • A pair of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire themed black dice.
  • A golden pin badge in the form of Dracula's crest.

So don't delay, back today! And please share the project far and wide with your contacts on social media.

Thank you.

Gamebook Friday - Dracula: Curse of the Vampire

The Kickstarter campaign to fund a 5th anniversary edition of the hardback of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire, including the bonus chapter brimming with desginer's notes and artist's sketches, launches on Tuesday 3 March 2026, at 1pm GMT.

First published back in 2021, Dracula: Curse of the Vampire reimagines Bram Stoker's classic as an interactive adventure. YOU play as one of three Vampire-Hunters - Jonathan Harker, Mina Murray, and Dr John Seward - or even as the eponymous Count himself.

At 1,000 sections, it is the longest gamebook I have written to date and is illustrated throughout by Hauke Kock.

Some of Hauke's illustrations from the adventure. (Click to enlarge.)

While the book is still availble in paperback and as an ebook, the hardback has been out of print for a while. So, to mark the 5th anniversary of the publication of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire, I am running the forthcoming Kickstarter. Where the original hardback featured a black cover with red lettering, the new edition will have a red cover with black lettering.

The original Dracula: Curse of the Vampire alongside a mock-up of the new edition.

Each hardback comes with a collectible bookmark, a pack of 10 postcards featuring Hauke Kock's artwork, a pair of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire themed black dice, and Dracula's crest in the form of a gold-plated pin badge.

Each book will also be signed by the author, and everyone who backs the Kickstarter will have their name appear within its pages.

Remember, the Kickstarter campaign goes live on Tuesday 3 March 2026, at 1pm.

Dracula: Curse of the Vampire LIVE - Part 6! (again)

It's the sixth part of Ken Boyter's live readthrough of Dracula - Curse of the Vampire tonight. Yes, I know Part 6 was two weeks ago, but that was really Part 5, because the Part 5 show was cancelled due to technical difficulties, so tonight's performance is definitely Part 6.

If you're free at 7:00pm GMT this evening, do join the livestream on Facebook to see if Ken, in the role of Count Dracula, can get the better of the Vampire-Hunters and make it back to Transylvania.

And, of course, the 125th anniversary special collector's edition hardback of Dracula - Curse of the Vampire is available now, and selling fast. So, don't miss your chance to grab one of these very rare, soon-to-be-collector's-items now.

Dracula: Curse of the Vampire LIVE - Part 4!

Ken Boyter is back this evening with the fourth (and possible final) part of his live readthrough of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. He is still tackling the adventure as Count Dracula, and is currentl on board the Demeter travelling to Whitby. Tune in at 7:00pm GMT this evening to see if he manages to reach England successfully.

And if you have yet to grab a copy of the adventure yourself - which currently has 30 five star ratings on Amazon - you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.

In other vampire-related news, on Easter Sunday, Family Green visited the Small is Beautiful art exhibition on the Old Brompton Road before walking through London to Leicaster Square for a spot of lunch.

On the way, we passed 138 Piccadilly, which - according to the Dracula Society, among others - is the house where Bram Stoker imagined the Count and the Crew of Light had a face off, as indeed they do in Dracula: Curse of the Vampire.

138 Piccadilly, one of Dracula's London haunts.

Happy Birthday, Mr Stoker!

Today, Monday 8th November 2021, would have been Bram Stoker's 174th birthday, if he had still been alive - or undead!

You may not realise that Dracula - Curse of the Vampire actually uses elements from three of Stoker's works: his seminal horror novel Dracula; the short story Dracula's Guest, which was published posthumously; and the last novel to be published before his death, The Lair of the White Worm.

If you want to find out more about the source material for the sixth ACE Gamebook, and learn how Bram Stoker set about writing Dracula in the first place, then you want to pick up a hardback copy of Dracula - Curse of the Vampire, which includes a bonus chapter that discusses all of the above.

Many people have been enjoying Dracula - Curse of the Vampire, and here are just some of the reviews that have come in so far.

If you have also read and enjoyed Dracula - Curse of the Vampire, I would ask that you post a review on Amazon, and Goodreads, and anywhere else you can. Quite simply, the more reviews, the greater the exposure. The greater the exposure, the more sales. And considering I spent the best part of two years writing the book, I could really do with some good sales right now.
