"The modern master of the gamebook format" (Rob Sanders)... "Can do dark very well" (Jonathan Oliver)... "Green gets mileage out of his monsters" (SFX Magazine)... "It takes a firm editorial hand and a keen understanding of the tone of each piece to make a collection this diverse work, and Green makes it look effortless" (Starburst Magazine)... "A charming blend of camp creatures, humour, and genuine horror" (Set the Tape)
Thank you very much to Stephen, Mark and Jon, for having me on their podcast, and if you would like to interview me for your channel, drop me a line at info@jonathangreenauthor.com.
Okay, apologies for the clickbait-y title. What actually happened was, during the livestream of the actual play of The Tides of Innsmouth on Sunday, the stream starting glitching and Jordan Sorcery had to turn off the video feed. I think the problem was actually a combination of the heat and his beleaguered equipment.
Anyway, if you missed the livestream you can watch it again here...
And then on Wednesday night I took part in a live interview with Mathieu and Mark on Rôliste TV. However, rather lasting for the expected hour, it went on for almost two.
You can watch the interview in its entirety here...
Lastly, I was recently interviewed by Paul Semel about The Tides of Innsmouth. You can read the interview, in which I discuss things like my sources of inspiration and how I go about plotting an adventure gamebook, here.
If you've read The Tides of Innsmouth, and you are able to, please post a review of the adventure on Amazon, to help counter the damage done by people complaining about the quality of their print on demand copies (and which are not rip-offs). Thank you.
For those who might be interested, I will be taking part in a couple of livestreams over the next few days.
On Sunday 15th June at 7:00pm, I will be joining Jordan Sorcery for a live playthrough of The Tides of Innsmouth. You can join the chat here to help decide what our Investigator does as they visit the sleepy seaside town of Innsmouth.
And then on Wednesday 18th June at 7:00pm, I will be chatting to Mathiew and Mark on the French YouTube channel Rôliste TV about my work in the gamebook genre. We will be discussing the history of Fighting Fantasy, adapting classics like Dracula, and my recent forays into the world of Arkham Horror.
The Darkness Over Arkham is released on Tuesday 7 May 2024 as a global eBook and as a paperback in the US*. So, if you're free, do stop by and help decide which path to take and, if you're not free, you will be able to catch it later on YouTube.
In four weeks' time, you will find me attending the UK Games Expo 2024 at the NEC in Birmingham. I will be sharing Stand 2-T21 with Sir Ian Livingstone, so do come and find us in Hall 2. You will find more details about the UK Games Expo here.
* The UK paperback of The Darkness Over Arkhamis out on 18 July 2024 but, it you're lucky, you may be able to pick one up at the UK Games Expo.
I was recently interviewed by Jordan Sorceryabout my work for Fighting Fantasy and the Black Library, and the video went live yesterday. And you can watch it here...
It was nice to be given the opportunity to talk about things people don't often ask me out, such as my involvement with Games Workshop and the early days of the Black Library. However, having watched the interview back, I must apologise for the number of times I use the word 'fun' during the course of our conversation.
Jordan Sorcery has been putting out some fantastic content on his YouTube channel and has interviewed the likes of Sir Ian Livingstone, Rick Priestley, Alessio Cavatore, Gav Thorpe and Andy Chambers, to name but a few. You will also find an interactive history of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks on there.
Over on the GoneHollowMedia YouTube channel, Sean and Emily have been working their way through my fifth Fighting Fantasy Gamebook Howl of the Werewolf. Their playthrough runs to seven parts, and you can watch the first part below.
In other news, last Saturday's International Gamebook Day was a great success. If you missed any of the interviews that were broadcast on the day, you can watch them at your leisure here, on The Storymaster's Tales YouTube channel, including one with gamebook godfather Sir Ian Livingstone himself!
It's the sixth part of Ken Boyter's live readthrough of Dracula - Curse of the Vampire tonight. Yes, I know Part 6 was two weeks ago, but that was really Part 5, because the Part 5 show was cancelled due to technical difficulties, so tonight's performance is definitely Part 6.
If you're free at 7:00pm GMT this evening, do join the livestream on Facebook to see if Ken, in the role of Count Dracula, can get the better of the Vampire-Hunters and make it back to Transylvania.
And, of course, the 125th anniversary special collector's edition hardback of Dracula - Curse of the Vampire is available now, and selling fast. So, don't miss your chance to grab one of these very rare, soon-to-be-collector's-items now.
It's been some time since Ken Boyter's last live readthrough of Dracula - Curse of the Vampire, due to a few technical issues two weeks ago (when Part 5 should have occured). So tonight's session is Part 6, even though there have only been four so far.
If you're free at 7:00pm GMT this evening, why not join the livestream on Facebook to see if Ken, in the role of Count Dracula, is able to get the better of the Vampire-Hunters ranged against him?
Ken Boyter is back this evening with the fourth (and possible final) part of his live readthrough of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. He is still tackling the adventure as Count Dracula, and is currentl on board the Demeter travelling to Whitby. Tune in at 7:00pm GMT this evening to see if he manages to reach England successfully.
And if you have yet to grab a copy of the adventure yourself - which currently has 30 five star ratings on Amazon - you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.
In other vampire-related news, on Easter Sunday, Family Green visited the Small is Beautiful art exhibition on the Old Brompton Road before walking through London to Leicaster Square for a spot of lunch.
On the way, we passed 138 Piccadilly, which - according to the Dracula Society, among others - is the house where Bram Stoker imagined the Count and the Crew of Light had a face off, as indeed they do in Dracula: Curse of the Vampire.
Ken Boyter is back this evening with the third part of his live readthrough of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. He is tackling the adventure as Count Dracula, and has just arrived in the 19th century. Tune in at 7:00pm GMT this evening to see if he manages to reach England successfully.
And if you have yet to grab a copy of the adventure yourself - which currently has 30 five star ratings on Amazon - you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.
Ken Boyter is back this evening with the second part of his live readthrough of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. He is tackling the adventure as Count Dracula, although he hasn't actually become Count Dracula yet. Tune in tonight, at 7:00pm GMT this evening, to see if he manages to make the transformation successfully.
And if you yet to grab a copy of the adventure yourself - which currently has 28 five star ratings on Amazon - you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.
Ken Boyter is embarking upon another live readthrough of one of my ACE Gamebooks this evening. This time it's the turn of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire, and I believe he is going to be playing as the eponymous Count himself.
So if you've been wondering what all the fuss is about my latest ACE Gamebook, why not join Ken at 7:00pm GMT this evening, and find out?
And if you want to grab a copy of the adventure so that you can play along with him at the same time, you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.
I can't quite believe it's almost a month since my last blog post. That's not like me at all, but then I have been rather busy. One of the things I've been busy with is prepping my next ACE Gamebook for Kickstarter, and another is a new supplement for 'TWAS - The Roleplaying Game Before Christmas.
Yesterday, a review of the 'TWASRPG appeared on the G*M*S Magazine YouTube channel. It's not a review of the game itself*, but more of an unboxing. And Paco has lots of great things to say about Tony Hough's artwork and Mark Stoneham's layout.
If you would like to buy a signed copy of the paperback of the 'TWAS - The Roleplaying Game Before Christmas core rulebook, which comes complete with an entire campaign entitled Krampusnacht, then follow this link to my eBay page.
Vicki has spent a great deal of effort making it look and sound amazing. And if you can't watch it live, don't worry - it will be available to view later on both Twitch and YouTube.
If you're looking for a suitable 'TWAS soundtrack to listen to whilst reading through the gamebook yourself, I would suggest a mixture of the Krampus movie OST, Batman: Arkham Origins, and the Home Alone OST.
Good luck, Vicki! Krampus is on his way...
* Vicki is actually the founder of Girls That Game.
