The appeal for me (as a fan, I'm not a writer) of the universe itself is simple - the unnerving sense of dread that hangs in the atmosphere like a heavy black velvet cloth draped over the human race. The situation continually feels hopeless, yet heroes come and go to show we are not quite finished yet.
