Gamebook Friday: Jonathan Green at Fantasy Festival 2026

This weekend, Saturday 19th - Sunday 20th September 2026, I will be attending Fantasy Festival in Esbjerg, Denmark, as one of the Guests of Honour.

Fantasy Festival opens at 10:00am Saturday 19th September, with the official opening occuring from 10:20am-10:45am, and I will be there.

From 2:45pm-3:30pm, I will be talking to Morten Gottschalck in the Theater Hall, at the Music Hall Esbjerg, which will be followed by a signing at the gamebook stall in the foyer.

On Sunday 20th September, I will be joining Morten Gottschalck for the Fantasy Quiz, in the Meeting Hall at the Music Hall Esbjerg. This will again be followed by a signing at the gamebook stall in the foyer.

The Danish translation of my Fighting Fantasy gamebook Night of the Necromancer - GENFÆRDETS HÆVN! - is launching at the event, with publisher Faraos Cigarer, featuring brand new cover art by Henrik Exler, who was also at Fighting Fantasy Fest 6, recently.

So, if you are attending Fantasy Festival this weekend, and you see me there, do stop and say hello. Or should that be hej?

ACE Gamebooks: The Gamebook Podcast - Fighting Fantasy Fest 6

It probably hasn't escaped your notice that last Saturday, 5th September 2026, Fighting Fantasy Fest 6 took place at the University of West London in Ealing.

I was there with my new mic wand, courtesy of Hoobynoo, and my cameraperson, and so set about recording some material for the second ACE Gamebooks: The Gamebook Podcast podcast. And you can watch it right here...

Gamebook Friday: Fighting Fantasy Fest 6

ACE Gamebooks will be at Fighting Fantasy Fest 6 on Saturday 5th September 2026, at the University of West London in Ealing. Doors open at 9:00am!

If you're going along, you will be able to pick up hardbacks of the ACE Gamebooks Shakespeare Vs. Cthulhu: What Dreams May Come, Dracula: Curse of the Vampire, Beowulf Beastslayer, and 'TWAS: The Krampus Night Before Christmas. (FYI - the illustrator of 'TWAS, Tony Hough, will be in attendance too.)

Happy Birthday to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz!

L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was first published on 1st September 1900 - precisely 126 years ago today!

In 2017, I published the second ACE Gamebook, The Wicked Wizard of Oz. Whilst still available in paperback, the hardback had been out of print for some time.

Next year, to mark 10 years since the book first came out, I am going to be running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of a brand new hardback edition. So, watch this space for more details!
