Short Story Saturday: An Array of Audiobooks

I must apologise for the lack of blog posts recently, other than ones relating to my latest Kickstarter, HEOROT - Role-Playing in the World of Beowulf Beastslayer. I hope to start making more diverse blog posts again, but if you like the crowdfunding ones, there's another Kickstarter coming this summer. (And there's a clue as to what it might be about later in this post.)

Anyway, today I wanted to alert you to the fact that Judge Fear's Big Day Out and Other Stories is now available as an audiobook, from Penguin Audio.

The anthology contains all four of my Judge Dredd short stories in audio format, including One-Way Ticket that originally appeared in two parts in the Judge Dredd Megazine.

But of course, it's not the only audiobooks featuring my short stories available. In case you haven't come across them, here's the up to date list of all those currently available.

Kaiju Rising II: Reign of Monsters was published by Outland Entertainment in 2018, and I am very grateful to the team for sending me a slipcase edition of the anthology, which includes my Kaiju vs Mech short story The Ghost in the Machine*.

* It is particularly good timing, considering what I am working on at the moment.

This one rather slipped under my radar, as it actually came out in January, but available now from Remastered Words is the audio anthology Fabled Journey IV.

Here's the blurb:

I've tried something I've never tried before - I've submitted a short story of mine to a writing competition.

Who Walks With Death* has been entered into the Epic Worlds contest on Inkitt.com, so if you'd like to read one of my fantasy short stories for free, simply follow this link. And if you like it, you can vote for it in the competition.

I have no idea how I'll get on, but it'll be an interesting experiment.

* The story first appeared in Legends: Stories in Honour of David Gemmell, edited by Ian Whates and published by Newcon Press, but I've given it a wash and brush-up for the competition.

Short Story Saturday: Legends

Since the official announcement was made last weekend at the Nine Worlds Geekfest 2013, I can now share the news that I am one of the writers who has contributed to Legends, an anthology of stories in honour of David Gemmell edited by Ian Whates.

My own story, Who Walks with Death, will appear alongside new original tales by the likes of Joe Abercrombie, James Barclay (with a story chronicling the origin of The Raven), Tanith Lee, Adrian Tchaikovsky (contributing a story in his Shadows of the Apt milieu), Juliet E McKenna, Stan Nicholls, Storm Constantine, Gaie Sebold and (hopefully) Tad Williams. I am quite excited about this.

The idea behind the anthology was that we create stories set in worlds of our own creation, but which keep the spirit of Gemmell's work in mind. It is being produced in conjunction with the David Gemmell Awards and will hopefully help raise some funds in support of the awards.

Legends: Stories In Honour Of David Gemmell will be launched at this year's Gemmell Award Ceremony, on the opening night of World FantasyCon in Brighton (Thursday October 31st). I'll be there. Maybe I'll see you there too.
